Our clinic at Cañon Family Dental has been blessed to have a special group of very talented and very loving people come together. Everyone here loves what they do – whether it’s caring for people or getting to use our skills to make a beautiful smile. We really have a fun, family atmosphere and trust that it helps provide a comfortable environment to “take the edge off” of going to the dentist.

Dr. Allen Lee
Dr. Allen Lee brings a unique blend of technical precision and genuine warmth to his work at Cañon Family Dental. Before pursuing dentistry, he spent his early years in California, earning his degree from UC Berkeley and working as a programmer in Silicon Valley. He went on to earn his dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania — where he also met his wife, Dr. Soo.
Dr. Lee now proudly calls Colorado home and is passionate about giving back to the communities he serves. He volunteers with the Colorado Mission of Mercy and participates in dental mission trips, reflecting a deep commitment to expanding access to care for those who need it most.
When he steps away from the practice, Dr. Lee enjoys getting back on the ski slopes and the golf course — and is working on convincing his two boys to share his enthusiasm for both. His diverse background and community-minded spirit make him a wonderful addition to the Cañon Family Dental team.
Dr. Jungsoo Byun
Dr. Jungsoo Byun — known warmly to her patients as Dr. Soo — brings a strong academic foundation and a genuine passion for patient care to Canon Family Dental. She completed her undergraduate studies at Gordon College near Boston, where she focused on the life sciences, and went on to earn her dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. It was during her time at Penn that she met her husband and fellow dentist, Dr. Lee.
Before pursuing dentistry, Dr. Soo gained valuable experience in biomedical research — a background that informs her thoughtful approach to patient care. She is committed to staying current in her field and to making every visit as comfortable and welcoming as possible for patients of all ages.
Outside the office, Dr. Soo treasures time with her husband and two sons. She is passionate about giving back and volunteers with the Colorado Mission of Mercy, providing dental care to underserved communities. When she is not at work or with her family, you will likely find her in the kitchen — cooking and baking her way through cuisines from around the world.
Dr. Paul Effinger
Dr. Paul Effinger is originally from Indiana and earned his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry degree from Midwestern University in Chicago. He brings both academic excellence and a genuine passion for patient care to Canon Family Dental.
Outside the office, Dr. Effinger loves riding dirt bikes and exploring the outdoors in his Jeeps. He even shares his love of dentistry with his wife — the two met while working together at a dental office, where she was a dental assistant. Together, they enjoy their shared passions for dentistry, adventure, and the great outdoors.
Rebecca
Office Manager
Becca brings more than 25 years of experience in the dental field, with extensive training and experience in both front office and clinical assisting. Today, she proudly manages the practice, keeping both the team and the day-to-day operations running smoothly.
Outside of the office, Becca enjoys photography, and you may even recognize some of her work hanging throughout the practice! When she’s not behind the camera, she loves spending time camping and making memories with her husband and kids.

Crystl brings 29 years of dental experience to Canon Family Dental, and her passion for patient care has only grown stronger over time. She takes genuine pride in helping patients feel at ease, whether they are coming in for a routine cleaning or something more involved.
When she is not caring for smiles, Crystl enjoys sewing, crafting, and spending quality time with family and friends. She is also a proud dog mom to two beloved pups.
Leann
Hygienist
Leann is a dedicated dental hygienist who is proud to serve the Canon City community she was born and raised in. As a busy mom of two, she understands the importance of family and brings that same warmth and care to every patient she sees.
Leann is passionate about helping patients prevent periodontal disease and maintain healthy, confident smiles. Her approach is rooted in quality, compassionate care — taking the time to educate and support each patient on their journey to better oral health.
When she's not in the office, Leann enjoys spending time outdoors, hunting, reading, and making memories with her family. She stays active in the community and loves cheering on her kids at their many sports activities.
Jennie
Front Desk
Jennie is Texas born and raised, but she has found her happy place in the beautiful Colorado mountains. Her motto is faith first, family always!
When she’s not at the office, Jennie loves chasing deep powder on her snowmobile, hunting and fishing with her husband and kids, and spending time with her fur babies. She lives by the belief that there’s not much a cold glass of iced tea and a day on the range can’t fix!
Jennie trusts that God has the plan, and she’s just here for the adventure.

Ariel is a curious and adaptable professional with an appreciation for great pizza, turtles that call metropolitan areas home, and the fascinating world beneath New York City. She brings a balanced approach to my work, combining professionalism, curiosity, and a willingness to explore unconventional ideas.
Jackie

Jackie has been a dental assistant for 8 years and loves helping patients feel comfortable and cared for. Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time outdoors hiking and skiing, getting lost in a good book, and making memories with her husband. Jackie is also a proud cat mom to two kitties!
Courtney
EDDA
Courtney has 15 years of experience in the dental field. She began her career in orthodontics before transitioning into general dentistry, where she became an EDDA-certified dental assistant. Her experience and versatility make her a wonderful part of our team!
When Courtney isn’t at the office, you’ll most likely find her spending time with her family, enjoying a day of fishing, or working on a puzzle. And fair warning—she’s seriously good at puzzles!
Judy
Assistant
Judy brings an incredible 45+ years of experience in dentistry and has worked in nearly every area of the dental field. For the past 40 years, she has had a special focus on caring for children, including children with special needs—a part of dentistry that is especially close to her heart.
Judy’s passion is helping every child feel safe, comfortable, and confident at the dentist. Her goal is simple: to make every child she sees feel unafraid of dental treatment and help create positive experiences that last a lifetime.
Charr
Dental Assistant
Charr brings more than 35 years of experience in dentistry, including the last 10 years as part of the Canon Family Dental team! She also holds her Nursing Assistant license, adding even more to her years of caring for others.
When she’s not at the office, Charr enjoys spending time with her cocker spaniel, Abbey, going for walks, and participating in Boot Camp. She also has a fun adventurous side—she used to love cruising around town in her Mustang, but these days she’s traded it in for a Bronco!
Dr. Lee, Dr. Soo, Rick, the dental assistants, and all the staff help are all great. My experiences with dentists have not been the best. However; with these doctors and assistants, my view of dentistry has changed. Those in this office have made my visits easy to cope with and as painless as possible. My dentures fit wonderfully, and I do not need to use dental cream to keep them in. When I had to have a root canal, they did an outstanding job. I recently had an opportunity to watch them work on my grandson, they were patient and gentle with him.
Great work all of you and thanks for taking most of the fear away of dental work!
